  • 07 Sep 2018 Costa Rica – Strike

    Correos de Costa Rica has advised that the public sector labour unions have called an indefinite strike as of 10 September 2018. This action will affect the collection, processing and delivery of all inbound and outbound mails.  Service delays are expected.

  • 06 Sep 2018 Japan – a) Typhoon b) Update on flooding

    a)         Typhoon

    Japan Post has advised that it is experiencing delays in domestic transportation and delivery of mail items and parcels due to the impact of the powerful typhoon that hit the western part of Japan on 4 September 2018. Kansai International Airport (KIX), where Osaka International Post Office, one of the six offices of exchange in Japan, is located, has been closed. As a result, domestic transportation for outbound and inbound international mail and parcel services has been temporarily switched from Kansai Airport to other airports until Kansai Airport becomes operational again.

     

    b)         Update on Floods in July 2018

    Japan Post has advised that the impact of the flooding in July is now minimal. However, certain areas, as identified earlier, continue to experience some limited delays.

  • 23 Aug 2018 India – Flooding

    The designated operator of India would like to inform that Kerala state has now been suffering severe flooding for a considerable time. Operations at Kochi International Airport are suspended until 26 August 2018. Thereafter, the flood situation will be reassessed, to determine whether airport operations can resume.

    The Department of Posts thank India – Flooding s designated operators for their understanding; it will provide an update once the situation returns to normal.

  • 20 Aug 2018 Italy – Disruption of postal operations

    Poste Italiane has advised that postal operations are disrupted owing to a bridge collapse along the A10 toll motorway in Genoa on 14 August 2018.  The bridge is a strategic transport link to and from southern France and Spain.  These disruptions are affecting some of these areas.  Postcodes with direct impacts include 16149 and 16151.

  • 07 Aug 2018 Indonesia – Earthquake

    PT Pos Indonesia has advised that as a result of the earthquake centred on Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara Province on 5 August 2018, many post offices have suffered major damage. Delays are therefore to be expected in the processing and delivery of all postal items.  The affected districts and areas are in the following postcode areas : Mataram: 83000–83365; Selong: 83600–83672; Sumbawa Besar: 84300–84381.

     

  • 20 Jul 2018 South Africa – End of Strike

    South African Post Office has updated that the nationwide strike affecting the collection and delivery of mails has ended.  However, please note that accumulated mail is expected to take roughly 20 working days to be processed.

  • 17 Jul 2018 South Africa – Strike

    South African Post Office has advised that employees launched a nationwide strike on 3 July 2018.  Delays in the collection and delivery of all inbound and outbound mail are to be expected.

  • 13 Jul 2018 Japan – Floods

    Japan Post has advised that Gifu, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Okayama, Hiroshima, Tokushima, Ehime and Kochi prefectures in western Japan are experiencing typhoons, heavy rains and massive flooding, as a result of which many post offices, domestic sorting centres and mail processing facilities have been closed. Some roads and highways in these areas are also inaccessible to traffic, which is delaying the delivery of mail and parcels.

     

    The affected districts and areas are in the following postcodes (as of 11 July 2018):

    Gifu: 5000000-5099999;

    Kyoto: 6000000-6299999;

    Osaka: 53000000-5999999;

    Hyogo: 6500000-6799999;

    Okayama: 7000000-7199999;

    Hiroshima: 7200000-7399999;

    Tokushima: 7600000-7699999;

    Ehime: 7900000-7999999; and

    Kochi: 7800000-7899999.

  • 11 Jul 2018 Bahamas – Delays in postal operations

    The designated operator of the Bahamas has advised that it is currently experiencing delays in the shipping, processing and delivery of all mail items as a result of persistent electrical and air conditioning malfunctions at the BSNASA exchange office. The problem is expected to be resolved within two weeks. To assist the delivery on all registered packets and EMS (Speedpost Priority) items, senders are advised to include phone numbers, post-office box numbers and e-mail addresses (wherever possible).

  • 03 Jul 2018 Antigua and Barbuda  – End of Strike

    The postal operator of Antigua and Barbuda has updated that strike has ended and all postal services have resumed.
